I recently listened to a podcast of Dr. Kelly Starret and in the podcast he briefly spoke about the importance of having good ankle mobility. Kelly stated basically how having flexible ankles can make up for tight hips and knees and other deficiencies in other part of the body. Basically, having flexible ankles can help for making up for some of deficiencies during lifts and can actually help with preventing injuries. I usually overlook ankle flexibility exercises and do not pay enough attention to them but after working on these drills for a couple weeks, I noticed my squat technique and mobility improved dramatically. I highly recommend everyone out there to pay attention to ankle mobility and include in their mobility regimen.
